A gift of education is the most precious gift you can give a child. In these remote villages, good schools are rare. With this initiative, these children have just one opportunity to get a sound education. You can empower our mission in many ways.

Donors are encouraged to make a sustained contribution (generally over a period of 3 years) and see the lives of children bloom. Alternatively, one-time contributions are also welcome. All donations qualify for exemption under Income Tax Act 80-G.

You can also support us as a volunteer, an online teacher or as a champion of GVET - to assist us with fundraising.

AMOUNT

DEADLINE

Sooner the Better

  • Happy By Nature School has been a part of our community for 15 years, but now we are embarking on a complete overhaul. Our goal is to adopt a holistic development framework that addresses the physical, mental, intellectual, and spiritual needs of our students. Cultural awareness, patriotism, and a universal outlook are equally important. However, this transformation is a challenging task, especially for a rural school with limited resources. Currently, we rely on local youth as teachers who lack the experience to drive this change. Therefore, we urgently need a Head Master for the transition period. Financially, we are unable to afford a Head Master, but we are open to someone relocating to Dunda. Join us in making a positive impact on education despite the obstacles we face.

  • a) Complete commitment to transforming the lives of children in a remote school
    b) Adapt at improvising and innovating – without seeing limited resources as a perpetual hindrance
    c) Willing to sacrifice some personal comforts for the sake of improving the educational standards
    d) Proficient in creating detailed academic plans and enforcing them for Class Play to 8th
    e) Instituting systems and processes to deliver upon and monitor the academic plans regularly
    f) Capable of setting a personal example – to inspire the teachers
    g) Rooted in the Indian culture and ready to lead a simple, minimalistic, spiritual way of life in the Himalayas

  • Students from nearby villages face significant challenges in reaching our school, often having to walk 1-1.5 kilometres on foot. The lack of proper roads and remote locations make commuting difficult. Many villages lack any mode of transport, restricting children's access to education. Harsh weather conditions and parents' work commitments add further complexities. Currently, we rely on hired transport, which is both expensive and unreliable. To overcome these obstacles, we aim to establish a safe and personalized transport system, ensuring a secure commute for students, even in adverse weather conditions. Help us bridge this gap and provide a brighter future for these deserving students.

  • a) Acquisition of a 10-seater mini-van for the school's transportation needs
    b) Targeting children from nearby villages within a 3-5 kilometre radius
    c)  Directly benefiting approximately 20-25 children who would otherwise struggle to access education
    d)  Enabling educational trips, local visits, hikes, and picnics for enhanced learning experiences
    e)  Offering children the opportunity to explore beyond their immediate villages
    f)  Enhancing educational opportunities and creating lasting memories for all students involved

DEADLINE

  • Located in a remote corner of India amidst the middle Himalayas, Happy By Nature School faces infrastructure challenges. The nearest town is a gruelling 6-hour drive away, and the school experiences an erratic electricity supply, disrupting classes. Obtaining photocopies is time-consuming, and printer cartridge delivery can take up to a week. Robust office and power infrastructure are urgently needed for uninterrupted school operations.

  • a)  Acquisition of a 5 KVA generator set to ensure an uninterrupted power supply for critical loads.
    b)  Upgrading the existing 1 KVA UPS to a 3 KVA UPS to accommodate the increased load.
    c)  Investing in a heavy-duty photocopier machine to make the school self-sufficient for routine tasks.

Donate Books & Notebooks for Three Years to Happy By Nature School

AMOUNT

INR 1.00 Lakh X 3 Years

DEADLINE

Sooner the better

  • Over the last 1 year, many improvements have been made in the academic curriculum of the school and our endeavor is to ensure no child is left behind. However, not all children are able to afford the prescribed books or buy sufficient notebooks. The children also do not have School Diaries (to keep track of the calendar or homework, assignments and teacher’s feedback). The staff cannot maintain the Yearly / Weekly plans as mandated by the Boards – because we cannot afford the cost of stationery and printed material.

  • a) Books: We will introduce books by other publishers alongside NCERT books for a more holistic approach to teaching certain subjects like English and Mathematics. These books may cost more but will be provided by the school to ensure access for all students.

    b) Notebooks: We aim to provide dedicated notebooks for each subject to avoid compromising learning due to shared notebooks.

    c)  Printed registers: Due to financial constraints, necessary printed documents like the school student's diary, teacher's diary, and yearly/weekly plans are currently unavailable. However, the school continues to operate without them.

  • In August 2022, Happy By Nature School introduced broadband to Bhakra village near Dunda, Uttarkashi, enabling virtual teaching and online resources. Teachers from different locations regularly conduct classes, resulting in over 2500 manhours of online teaching from August 2022 to March 2023. This integrated approach, involving six teachers and 360 periods, has been successful. Additionally, teachers utilize online resources like YouTube videos to supplement textbooks, bringing academic rigor to the school through a hybrid teaching model.

  • The school currently has 3 virtual classrooms created using large screen displays and laptops / desktops. The above infrastructure takes care the Middle School students and is used for the teaching of Mathematics, English and Science.

The Pre-primary and the Primary classes still do not have the audio-visual infrastructure. We intend to enable the remaining classes also with the necessary infrastructure soon.
